“I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. ... The moment you follow someone you cease to follow Truth.” Krishnamurti
In my practice and my teaching I draw from the many inspirations, the many lessons, the many teachers I have had. I don't claim to follow any one "style", any one "way", or for that matter, any one "teacher". You can tell quite easily that I am influenced by some more than others. I have followed some systems quite closely and gotten certifications, transmission, and initiation. It's possible even to classify me and my practice, but it wouldn't be true. I don't feel limited or even defined by these. And in the context of each, I am a bit heretical. I'm simply not a good follower. I am and have always been a bit of an outsider, with my own drummer and so forth.
But I have learned a lot from some very knowledgeable people, and I have a lot more left to learn. I have only the highest respect for any of my teachers. I am indebted to them. But not indentured. The only limits we face are the limits we place on ourselves, or allow others to place.
It is my belief that once we label ourselves, we separate ourselves. In this sense, identification is a violent act. By limiting myself to a particular philosophy, style, lineage, I am separating myself from those not so associated. I find it better for me to find my own way, with the help of various teachers, rather than to identify with and blindly follow any of these way-showers. To that end, the path is uniquely mine and is in fact no path at all.
